About

Hatem is a Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the United States Naval Academy, where he serves as Department Chair. He has been on a fast-track academic leadership path, having earned his Ph.D. in 2014, secured an assistant professorship immediately after, and achieved tenure in 2019 before being appointed to his current role in 2025. He leverages this position to develop future Navy and Marine Corps officers through professional training and a commitment to active-learning strategies. His research, which intersects electrical engineering and applied physics, has attracted significant funding from the Office of Naval Research, the National Science Foundation, and the Defense Threat Reduction Agency. Hatem is actively seeking challenging senior leadership roles in higher education.
